The Regent of the Gettysburg Chapter of the DAR, Cindy Birdwell, as her special project has assembled a "Missing Warrior Table" that will be used at each meal during chapter meetings.
Missing Warrior Table Setting
This project is special to Cindy's heart as the wife of a retired Naval officer and to me as a Navy veteran and the niece of an Army Air Corps officer that was lost during WWII.
These tables first appeared in military dining halls and veteran associations after the end of the Vietnam War. The small table set for one has various pieces to honor missing comrades.
The table commonly referred to as POW/Mia (Prisoner of War Missing in Action) show the families and fellow warriors that the missing will never be forgotten, that they are honored and sadly missed.
